It's Friday! Take a Smile... There are many acts of worship which are prescribed for the Muslim to do on this day. These include:  1 – Salaat al-Jumu’ah (Friday prayer)  Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):  “O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salaah (prayer) on Friday (Jumu‘ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu‘ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salaah (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing). That is better for you if you did but know!” [al-Jumu’ah 62:9]   Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in  Zaad al-Ma’aad  (1/376):  Friday prayer is one of the most important obligations in Islam, and one of the greatest gatherings of the Muslims. Gathering on Friday is more important and more obligatory than any other gathering apart from ‘Arafah.   Praise be to Allah. The reward that results from reading Soorat al-Kahf on Friday is only mentioned for the one who reads the soorah on that day. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on Friday, Allah will bestow upon him light between those two Fridays.” Narrated by al-Bayhaqi; classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allah have mercy on him) in  Saheeh al-Jaami‘ .  It is well-known that the one who listens to a soorah is not regarded as having read it. Based on that, if a person wants the reward that is mentioned in the hadith, then he has to read Soorat al-Kahf, and it is not enough just to listen to it.  But if a person cannot read Qur’an well, so he listens to it being recited by someone else, seeking the reward that has been mentioned for that, then there is the hope that he will have the same reward as the one who reads it, because of his good intention and doing what he is able to do....

When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the Day of Assembly), hasten earnestly to the Remembrance of Allah, and leave off business (and traffic): That is best for you if they but knew!”  (Surah Al-Juma, 62:9) The Prophet said, “The five daily prayers and Friday   prayer to the next Friday prayer, and the fasting of Ramadan to the next Ramadan, is expiation of the sins committed in between them, so long as major sins are avoided.” [Muslim] The Messenger of Allah (sa) said,  “Prayer in congregation is superior to praying individually t wenty-seven times.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] 

Ohh Allah.. on this blessed Friday grand us relief from anxiety & grief. Protect us from worldly distractions that take us away from you. Ameen!
