Adam Mosseri Trending Topics Not a Priority for Threads, Here’s Why

Threads has been making a lot of waves recently, with many saying that it is the platform that is most likely to supplant Twitter, now known as X, as the most popular microblogging platform out there. One of the many things that the social media platform is trying to incorporate is trending topics, but in spite of the fact that this is the case, CEO Adam Mosseri doesn’t think that this should be all that big of a priority.

According to him, trending is just one of many features that won't really help the platform grow as much in the long run with all things having been considered and taken into account. Hashtags, following feeds, edit buttons and like lists were also mentioned in his statement. You might think that trending topics in particular would be excellent for engagement, but in spite of the fact that this is the case, Mosseri doesn’t seem to think that they would have all that measurable of an impact.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that X derives a lot of its value from features like the ones mentioned above, all of which create more engagement than might have been the case otherwise. Trending topics also go a really long way towards keeping users hooked, and with lists, users can discover content that pertains to their precise and specific interests.

This just goes to show that the assumptions we often have about the manner in which social media platforms function might not always line up with the reality of how things work on the ground. The point here is that Meta’s priority has been to figure out what users want through algorithms, and this has yielded a 20% increase in Reels usage. It might not be a stretch to say that users don’t actually know what they want, and that while certain features might boost engagement, people like Mosseri that actually see the data coming in would have a better idea of how to make Threads reach its full potential.

Microsoft Windows 11 Rolls Out Commercial Ads For Copilot AI Assistant

Software giant Microsoft just confirmed how it was rolling out ads for its much-talked-about Copilot AI Assistant. This includes the likes of more access to GPT-4 Turbo, customized GPTs, and the integration of Office into the rollout too. Now, there are discussions about how there seems to be a new upgrade as this makeshift change of ads being launched on the AI tool takes center stage. Critics claim the tech giant is really pushing the pedal on this endeavor and that means we’re soon to see more revenue getting generated through this means as it arrives to Windows 11 very soon. The tech giant wishes to make sure each Windows 11 user is well aware of how Copilot Pro works so it’s all decided from the start how ads would be rolled out across the Settings tab of the app as well as the Home Page. YouTube Is Testing A New Means To Prevent Ad Skipping And It Involves Hiding The ‘Skip’ Button

Video streaming giant YouTube is working on a new way to ensure users see ads and don’t skip them. This includes hiding the ‘Skip’ button option. The free viewing experience that users have been benefiting from, thanks to the Skip button, could soon be disguised from user view. But if you’ve really got a problem with ads, the app is giving you the chance to pay extra and subscribe to Premium. Google says ad monetization is one of the chief ways it makes money and helps creators get their rightful share. Hence, features like ad blockers have already made it hard for websites on the search engine to benefit and now the skip button is also hindering its monetization potential. We can see this as a smart tactic to push marketing of its premium tier. Remember, so many viewers are complaining about how ad segments keep getting longer by the day. And if you can’t skip them, it just adds to a not-so-pleasurable experience. The app has been very vocal about the ongoing debate against free...
